  Over 20 years ago, Thunder asked Grandpa Wallace Black Elk to talk to me about the Chanupa the Sacred Pipe.  He told me, “Sometimes the prayers of the People are so heavy on the Pipe that we literally cannot pick it, or ourselves up off the ground.”  Now, I understand when we sing the ceremonial songs that we are lifted up along with those prayers for the People.

     Sometimes the songs sound like a lament- crying for the People. When we touch the drum stick to the skin of the drum, we need to do so with joy. That joyful beat of the drum will lift our voices up. The beat lifts our feet up, lifting up our hearts and minds. In this way our generations are lifted up.

      The Blue Star People believe in praying, fasting and dancing together with people from all traditions and races. That’s how we heal our generations and the planet.

 Friends, look up, move forward, look towards the highest good for ourselves, relatives and generations. Thank you for listening and hearing. This is only what we believe is true. Welcome to the ceremonial year.

We have a beautiful quest site in the middle of 350 acres at the base of the Shawanagunk Mountains at the Center for Symbolic Studies in New Paltz.

   We have held ceremonies there since 1989. Camping is provided on the site adjacent to our Dance arbor.  We have a great indoor/outdoor kitchen and a dining and meeting tent.  Showers are available on-site. 
 

Sparky’s Counseling and Speaking

     Healing is a process.  It happens in a place out of time and space.  Focused prayer is faster than any computer.  Miracles are common, everyday, ordinary happenings.  We need to open our hearts and minds to humbly enter Creator’s holy house of miracles.
     I had a vision before I began Sun Dancing in 1988.  In the vision, I was shown how personal trauma connects to humanity’s trauma, over eons of time.  Releasing the secrets we hold from past trauma gives us the keys that unlock our greatest gifts. This vision is the foundation of most of the healing and teaching work I do with people.
     Spiritual counseling is one of the ways Spirit helps through me.  I work with individuals and families.  Private sessions can be either by phone or in person.
     Another way I serve is through public speaking and teaching.  Over the past 15 years, I have spoken to such diverse groups as: medical students at Tulane University, to church groups on my mom’s front porch and to the National Association for the Education of Young Children. 
    I am happy to work with you to plan a talk or story telling.   On-going groups and teachings are also possible.  Teachings reflect my personal experience; they represent no nation, religion or organization.
